compliance with established Company and Government regulatory guidelines. Develop and promote preventive and curative
programs to ensure optimum employee health.
Major Accomplishments
ü
A need was identified to develop a formal New Employee
Induction Program as part of the ISO Certification Process. In conjunction with the other departments,
HR coordinated the development of a formal program. Personally developed the Occupational Safety and Health Module
for each of the working areas. ISO
Audits were successfully approved by the Company.
ü
A rising incidence of State Insurance Fund (Fondo)
cases was identified among the plant and office workers primarily dealing with
Cumulative Trauma Disorders (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Spasms, Back Problems,
etc.). Presented the matter to
Management Staff with statistical data to reflect concern and gain approval for
the implementation of a formal Ergonomics Program. Developed a policy and procedure for the program and constituted
a formal working committee with widespread participation, led by the HR
Manager. Provided training for
management and employees on Ergonomics; working stations, equipment, processes
were reviewed and appropriate adjustments made. Numbers of cases reported to the SIF were dramatically reduced.
ü Identified the need to comply with OSHA standards related to Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Function, Bloodborne Pathogen, and Hazardous Communications. Coordinated the establishment of these programs with corporate offices and the interaction with local departments. Developed a profile of each working area taking into consideration the product being manufactured and the level of employee exposure to those products. Company was able to fully comply with OSHA standards and successfully approved OSHA Audits without penalties.

Was requested to develop a Wellness Program as ways of
controlling/reducing rising medical plan expenses and improving employee health
and productivity. Among the activities
generated were the following.
Suggested, lobbied for, and obtained approval for the implementation of
an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Developed a Nutritional Awareness Program with the help of an external
consultant. Established clinics for
identification of health problems such as high cholesterol and
hypertension. Based on a pilot study
of fifty (50) employees was able to demonstrate positive results arising from
these programs.
