Professional Experience

Systems Implementation

ü        After demonstrating to senior management the need to begin looking for a window to replace the current systems portfolio (BPCS, TRIMAX and SW Plus) the company made the decision to replace existing systems structure and implement an integrated one (SAP).  Facilitated the scooping of the SAP R/3 implementation for three remote manufacturing sites.  Identified areas of the business to be addressed by SAP software, estimated the resources and time frame for accomplishing the task.  Worked on the activities to commence project and selected the project team.  A preliminary project plan was delivered to top management, which approved the implementation within the selected time frame.  The scope became the root for a more detailed project plan, now in place for the next two years.

ü        Company identified the need to implement a complete inventory control and management system (AMAPS).  Led a cross-functional team in the process of identifying successful project criteria, definition of all automated processes, user training and capacitation, and quality review.  All users were trained and successfully transitioned to the automated procurement module without interruptions to the supply chain, on time and within the agreed budget.

ü        Company was in need of developing a Remote Job Entry (RJE) facility to support the manufacturing operation.  Established company’s first RJE facility on the island using the latest communication technology at that time, a DATA 100 high-speed device.  The process required the systematic transfer of the MRP reporting from the corporate main computer facility to the local site.  The RJE facility was established within three years and set the need to evolve into a self-supporting HP3000 MRP site.

Logistics Management

ü        Company faced the need to maximize utilization of space to meet the needs of an expanding production plan.  Facilitated the logistics for the transfer of server computer, communication hubs, network infrastructure, communications lines, help desk control room, and office space to a nearby facility within a three-month period.

ü        Company identified the need to systematically begin supporting IS/IT operations independently from another island site.  Facilitated the process for the establishment of the IS/IT process, procedures, human organization roles and responsibilities.  Site became self-supporting in a two-year time frame, and developed the capabilities to support other sites as necessary.

Organization Development

ü        A dramatic increase in operations where production volume increased three-fold resulted in the increase in the number of users, transactions per system and process, necessitating the development of the IS/IT organization to meet the increasing demands. With the help of systems users, facilitated the process to align systems priorities, identified and created service level requirements, recruited IS/IT staff to provide support, and promoted a big picture focus of the IS/IT services.  Company IS/IT infrastructure and general resources are now capable of aligning to support the changing business needs.

Project Planning

ü        In anticipation of Y2K, developed a comprehensive review of IS/IT systems to identify potential problems that may impair the continuity of the Company’s supply chain management.  In 1995, began a process that, years later became commonly accepted, consisting of Inventory, test, correct and certify all systems (HW/SW).  Continued with the process of assessing Vendors, and concluded with several internal and external audits to validate readiness.  Successfully rolled over to the new millennium with zero downtime nor supply chain interruptions.

System Integration

ü        The Company undertook a huge investment in a Computerized Inventory Management System (CIMS) for one of its key products.  In support of this process a significant input was required from the MRP system (BPCS) where interface definitions or logistics processes did not exist.  Facilitated a systems requirement definition, procurement of agreeable data ownership identification, and transaction definition to create the required interfaces.  CIMS and BPCS became a seamlessly communicated business system having the required functionality to support the operation as required.
