the GE corporate metrics: recordable cases, days away from work, training,
hazardous waste, permits, internal audits, among others. Performance contributed to the achievement of
the Arecibo Plant to be classified among the top six A Plant of GE Industrial
Systems around the world.
Results:

Achieved
the highest compliance level, Guanin status (Star Site) from OSHA's Voluntary
Protection Program for the Arecibo Plant, finishing the nine (9) auditor audit
on the 6th day, with zero open findings (first of GE plants with zero open
findings). This level of compliance
liberates the site from programmed OSHA inspections for a three year period.

Implemented
an Investigation and Tracking System for accidents and “near misses” to achieve
a 17% of reduction for OSHA Recordables for year 2000. Year to date (2001), a 75% of reduction for
OSHA Recordables was achieved, a 70% of reduction for Days Away From Work, and
36% of reduction for “near misses” cases.

Standardized Supplier Quality Assessment (SSQA) chose the

Achieve
100% of compliance on the discharge of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to
PRASA’s primary treatment plant. PRASA
recognized the GE Arecibo WWTP as the best operated plant in the Arecibo
Region. Monitoring was reduced from
monthly to quarterly.
