            Results:

§         Achieved the highest compliance level, Guanin status (Star Site) from OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program for the Arecibo Plant, finishing the nine (9) auditor audit on the 6th day, with zero open findings (first of GE plants with zero open findings).  This level of compliance liberates the site from programmed OSHA inspections for a three year period.

§         Implemented an Investigation and Tracking System for accidents and “near misses” to achieve a 17% of reduction for OSHA Recordables for year 2000.  Year to date (2001), a 75% of reduction for OSHA Recordables was achieved, a 70% of reduction for Days Away From Work, and 36% of reduction for “near misses” cases.

§         Intel's Standardized Supplier Quality Assessment (SSQA) chose the Arecibo plant among all of GE’s plants to audit GE’s EHS and Business Recovery Plan Modules. The Arecibo plant received the highest score of any of Intel’s suppliers contributing to the achievement of the Arecibo Plant in the SSQA certification of the whole Industrial System business.

§         Achieve 100% of compliance on the discharge of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to PRASA’s primary treatment plant.  PRASA recognized the GE Arecibo WWTP as the best operated plant in the Arecibo Region.  Monitoring was reduced from monthly to quarterly.
