Wyeth-Ayerst Lederle Parenterals Carolina, PR                            1990 - Present

Parenterals Business Unit Director                                                      1999 - Present

Fully responsible for the operation of a Parenterals facility with manufacturing volume of over 19MM vials per year. The facility supplies products to the domestic (37%) and international (63%) markets, particularly to Japan. In addition, the facility manufactures products for third party customers. Over 75% of the production is lyophilized with the remaining being liquid solutions and suspensions, under aseptic conditions. Responsible for compliance to current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) with the Food and Drug Administration, the Medicine Control Agency and Drug Enforcement Agency.

 

Manufacturing Manager                                                                      1997 - 1999

Accountable for the manufacturing operation of an injectable penicillin facility with annual volume of over 17MM lyophilized vials and over 120 employees running 7 days per week. Responsibilities included formulation, aseptic filling, Lyophilization, inspection, labeling and packaging. Products were distributed 50% domestic / 50% international with sales over $300MM.

Fully responsible for the operation of 14 lyophilizers supporting two businesses on a 24 hours operation 365 days per year. Combined lyophilized manufacturing volume well over 25MM vials per year. Led the evaluation, acquisition and implementation for multiple lyophilizers with a capital project cost of over $20MM. Led Lyophilization technology development for existing products as well as new formulations.

Manager of business application for a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant and its sales organization, Cyanamid Caribbean branch. Designed and implemented information services infrastructure projects in support of various operations distributed over four sites. These included Operations of Lederle Parenterals pharmaceutical, Davis & Geck medical device, and American Cyanamid agricultural. Directed the systems migration from an HP/3000 model 70 and a HP/3000 model 58 to an HP/3000 model 947 with all its corresponding software applications as well as communication interfaces. Researched and selected a laboratory information management system (LIMS) which was implemented and validated. Responsible for the support and improvement of business applications through the implementation of latest technology.
